Distance equals distance

On those occasions in the past when I have attended school board meetings, I found my neighbors sitting on the other side of the table.

My children played with their children. We sit on the sidelines at games and cheer together. We attend plays and science fairs, bake sales, musicals, graduations and funerals together. We know each others’ names. We see each other around town and can settle most of our differences in line at the grocery store.

What possibility is there that this would continue under the governor’s consolidation plan, with a single board representing 35 towns?
