KITTERY – The second submarine in four days arrived Monday at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, officials said.
The USS Louisville, which has a crew of 20 officers and 127 enlisted sailors, will be undergoing maintenance and upgrades.
The Louisville has the distinction of being the first to fire a Tomahawk cruise missile in war, during Operation Desert Storm. The sub traveled 14,000 miles submerged across the Pacific and arrived in the Red Sea on Jan. 19, 1991, to launch its missiles.
