HERMON – Colton Gross scored 12 of his game-high 15 points during a 9-minute, 37-second span at the end of the third period and into the fourth during which the No. 7 Hermon erased a 12-point deficit on its way to a 52-50 Class B boys preliminary basketball victory over Medomak Valley of Waldoboro on Tuesday night.
Derek Helms, who scored six points during the 23-9 Hermon run, finished with 13 points while Justin Ames put in 10 more.
Colin O’Donnell paced 10th-ranked Medomak Valley of Waldoboro with 14 points. Zack Durkee netted 13 points and Justin Ames added 10.
