BOYS

Big School (Classes A-B)

Cam Cormier

The Bangor High School senior became the first Maine schoolboy runner to break the 50-second barrier indoors in the 400 meters in Maine, covering the distance in 49.94 seconds to win the event at the Eastern Maine Indoor Track League championships at Orono.

Cormier also won the 60 and 200 dashes in leading the Rams to the team title.

Small School (Classes C-D)

Jeremiah Barkac

The Dexter High senior won his fourth consecutive Class C wrestling individual championship Saturday, scoring a 22-7 technical fall over Lisbon’s Jeff Cossar in the title match. He also extended his state record for career victories during the tournament, and will take a 186-5 career record into next month’s New England championships.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

BREWER CHEERLEADERS

The Brewer High cheerleading team, under coach Kristie Reed, won the Class A state championship Monday, scoring 163.7 points in the final round to become the first PVC or Big East team ever to win a Class A crown. The Witches swept all four competitions this winter, winning the PVC, Big East, Eastern Maine Class A and state titles.

Small School (Classes C-D)

ERICA MCDOUGALL

McDougall, a junior forward on the Washburn High basketball team, helped the Beavers secure the No. 2 seed for the Eastern Maine Class D tournament, the program’s highest seed since 1986 (No. 1), with a combined 26 points and 12 assists in wins over Hodgdon and Fort Fairfield. She had 11 points, six steals and five assists Tuesday in a 50-27 preliminary-round win over No. 15 Deer Isle-Stonington.
