Nathan, 12, has passion for fishing

Nathan is an active 12-year-old boy who enjoys fishing, swimming and being outdoors. He lives in a residential facility and is eager for a family where he can belong.

Nathan wants a family to know he is “a great kid” who knows how to follow directions.

He has a real passion for fishing and anything related to the sport. He would love to have a family that would enjoy fishing with him. He is happiest when he has a fishing pole or net in his hand.

Not only does Nathan like to catch fish, he enjoys swimming like one. He spent the summer splashing around the neighborhood pool with his mask and snorkel.

Nathan has many other interests. He enjoys riding his bike. He is good at catching frogs in his fishing net, then will gently set them free. Nathan went camping for the first time this summer and really enjoyed it.

He also recently went hiking and liked walking through the woods and looking at the things around him. It is safe to say that Nathan is up for new adventures and is willing to try new things.

In school, Nathan has difficulty focusing and completing his work. At this time, Nathan is not in public school. He does best with one-on-one adult attention.

Nathan wants to be nurtured, cared for and liked. A home where he will be the only child would be preferable. He will make a great addition to the right energetic, patient family that will be active and involved with Nathan.

Nathan is one of the 159 children in state Department of Health and Human Services care who is seeking an adoptive family.

Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
