Houlton accident leaves two injured Inattention cited in car-truck collision

HOULTON – A slow-speed crash Saturday evening sent two people to the hospital complaining of neck and shoulder pain, police said.

Officer Ezekiel Collins said Sunday that a car and a pickup truck were side by side in the southbound lanes on North Street at the time of the accident.

In the left lane, Arron Pelletier, 24, of Hanwell, New Brunswick, was driving a 1994 Chevy Cavalier owned by passenger Lisa Doiron, 21, also of Hanwell. In the right lane, Emily Carpenter, 20, of Houlton was driving a 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck.

The car apparently attempted to move into the right lane in order to pull into an Irving gas station on the southbound side of the road, but drove into the truck’s path.

Carpenter’s truck hit the car on the passenger side, which dented the door and broke out the passenger-side window.

When police arrived, both Pelletier and Doiron were complaining of neck and shoulder pain. Both were taken to Houlton Regional Hospital, where they were treated and later released.

Police attributed the crash to driver inattention.
