Defending North Atlantic Conference women’s champion University of Maine at Farmington and Castleton State earned the top seeds in the eastern and western divisions, respectively, and will host quarterfinal matchups today.
The Beavers take a perfect 17-0 record in the NAC, 22-3 overall, into a matchup with fourth-ranked Johnson State at 6 p.m.
Second seed Maine Maritime Academy will host Becker College at 5:30 p.m. in Castine. The Lady Mariners, whose only two losses this season came at the hand of UM-Farmington, defeated Becker by 29 points back on Dec. 8. Both Maine Maritime and UM-Farmington cracked the d3hoops.com top 25 national poll this week and are ranked 23rd and 24th, respectively.
Husson College will travel to Newton, Mass., to take on Lasell at 5:30 p.m. The third-ranked Eagles took down the No. 2 Lasers on Feb. 3, 68-66. Thomas College will hit the road and take on Castleton State at 6 p.m. The Spartans edged the Terriers by one in their only meeting of the season.
In men’s action, the top ranked Husson Eagles will host Castleton State at 6 p.m. Tuesday and No. 2 Maine Maritime will face No. 3 Lesley after the women’s game at 7:30 p.m. The Mariners toppled Lesley 85-48 in the first conference game of the season.
Third-ranked University of Maine Farmington will travel to Lasell for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off, and No. 1 Elms will host No. 4 Mount Ida at 7 p.m.
