PALERMO – The Waldo County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a vandalism spree that occurred overnight Tuesday and resulted in windows being broken at the Palermo Library and Palermo Consolidated School.

Chief Deputy Robert Keating said the incidents were reported mid-morning on Wednesday. He said Deputy Gene Rega also was investigating the theft of mailboxes from two residences on Dyer Straits Road.

Keating said Rega reported that the Kennebec County was investigating similar incidents that occurred in the neighboring town of Albion.

Later in the day Rega reported recovering the two Dyer Straits Road mailboxes.
