‘Hawks topple Dirigo Boothbay wins WM ‘C’ crown

AUGUSTA – Matt Sceviour led a balanced scoring attack with 13 points as the No. 2 Boothbay boys basketball team defeated No. 1 Dirigo of Dixfield 52-45 for the Western Maine Class C championship Saturday at the Augusta Civic Center.

The Gould of Bethel boys won the Western Maine Class D title. Mount Abram of Strong was victorious in the Western Maine Class C girls final and Hyde of Bath took the WM Class D girls final.

Kris Noonan added 12 points and Owen Johnson notched 11 for the Seahawks.

Thomas Knight and Michael Holmquist each netted 15 points for the Cougars.

At the Augusta Civic Center, No. 2 Gould Academy outscored No. 1 Richmond 15-5 in the fourth quarter and hung on for the Class D regional title.

Seth Gray paced the undefeated Huskies with 16 points.

Mark Zaharchuk led the way with 16 points and Kyle Lancaster added 12 for the Bobcats.

At the Augusta Civic Center, Chelsea Malen tossed in 14 points, including four three-pointers, as the top-ranked Phoenix defeated the No. 2 Lakers.

Hyde’s Frances Moreau added 11 points.

Angela White poured in 22 points and Krista Jamison contributed 11 for Rangeley.
