Troy Barnies of Edward Little in Auburn, Sean McNally of Gardiner and Andy Shorey of Mountain Valley of Rumford have been named finalists for the Mr. Maine Basketball award while Chelsea Barker of Messalonskee in Oakland, Ashley Cimino of McAuley in Portland and Cassie Cooper of Cony in Augusta have been selected as finalists for Miss Maine Basketball.
Other boys semifinalists for the award were: Isaiah Brathwaite of Mt. Blue in Farmington, Tom Bird of Lee Academy, Brandon Carbone of Deering in Portland, Ryan Carmichael of Portland, Corey DeWitt of Ellsworth, Alex Gallant of Bangor and Brandon Tomah of Calais.
Other girls semifinalists for the award were: Beth Fredette of Sanford, Christina Mosher of Mt. Blue, Kate Ross of Morse in Bath, Tanna Ross of Hampden Academy, Emily Rousseau of Biddeford, Bethany Sevey of Skowhegan and Angela Norsworthy of Presque Isle.
The awards, given to the state’s top senior basketball players, are decided by the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches and will be announced at the Maine McDonald’s Senior All-Star banquet at 7 p.m. Friday, March 16 at Husson College’s Newman Gym in Bangor.
The all-star games follow the next day at Husson at the following times: Boys C-D, 9:15 a.m.; Boys A-B, 11 a.m.; Girls A-B, 12:30 p.m., and Girls C-D, 2:15 p.m.
Tickets for the games are $5 and may be purchased at the door.
