Marble named ESPN Academic All-American

GORHAM – University of Southern Maine senior forward Ashley Marble of Topsfield was named the ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA College Division Academic All-American of the Year. The award includes all women’s basketball teams competing at the Division II, III, and NAIA levels.

Marble was recently named the Little East Conference Player of the Year for the third straight year and was also named to the ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA College Division Academic All-American First Team.

Marble, a two-time All-District One First Team selection, has a 3.72 grade point average and is studying for a degree in health fitness.

“I am very honored to receive this award,” said Marble. “I take pride in my academics and it is nice to see the extra effort and time studying pay off. With my mother being an elementary school principal, education has always been a priority in my family and as a senior it is fulfilling to be rewarded as a student-athlete.”

A 2006 WMCA All-American, Marble leads Southern Maine in points and rebounds, averages 23.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game.
