The Ridge Runners are a team of sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade girls from Hampden, Newburgh, Winterport and Holden.

They play in the Central Maine Sunday Travel League and compiled a record of seven wins and three losses.

The end-of-season tournament was held the weekend of Feb. 10-11. Playing in the Olympic Division of seven teams, the Ridge Runners were undefeated on their way to the championship with a 4-0 record.

In the first game on Saturday, the Ridge Runners defeated Hall-Dale 26-20. In game two on Saturday, the Ridge Runners won 34-22 over Leavitt White.

Game three on Sunday morning was a victory for the Ridge Runners over Oxford Hills by the score of 45-26. In game four, the championship game, pitting the team once again against Oxford hills, the Ridge Runners prevailed by a score of 42-16.

Members of the Ridge Runners team and coaches said they were very pleased with the support they received throughout the season and during the end-of-season tournament from their fans, parents and sponsor.
