Two people were taken to the hospital after a vehicle collision Monday morning on Stetson Road East in Levant. Katrina Vaughan, 18, of Levant had stopped at the stop sign on Brann Road in Levant at about 10:15 a.m. and attempted to turn onto Stetson Road East, according to Deputy Sean McCue of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department. She failed to yield and pulled out in front of a pickup truck traveling toward Levant driven by Deborah Howe, 34, of Kenduskeag, McCue said.
The pickup truck was traveling about 40 mph when the collision happened, causing about $5,000 in damage to Vaughan’s car and about $7,000 to the truck.
Howe was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for a possible broken leg along with her 14-year-old son who was to be checked for head injuries from the deployed air bags, according to McCue.
Bangor police are looking for a pickup truck believed to have been stolen from Quirk Auto on Hogan Road on Sunday.
An employee said he noticed a vehicle was missing from the lot Monday night. He reviewed a videotape from the day before that showed a man driving into the lot and then walking around before going out of sight behind the building.
A few moments later in the tape, a silver, 2004 Chevrolet Silverado with a red Boss V-style plow came out from behind the building and left the lot. Employees don’t know how the thief started the truck because the dealership has the only key. The pickup is valued at $23,789.
Police are asking anyone who sees the stolen vehicle to call the Police Department at 947-7384.
