PITTSFIELD – A planned showing tonight of the film “Dreamgirls” has been canceled at the Pittsfield Municipal Theater because of a leaking roof.
The same problem caused a screening Sunday night to be canceled.
Town Manager Kathryn Ruth said Monday that firefighters were busy shoveling off the roof, which had several leaks in the theater stage.
“This was an unusual situation,” she said. “We had two large storms in a row.”
Snow built up on the roof and when it started to melt, it had nowhere to go.
In the future, she said, the flat roof will be shoveled off after each large storm.
