DOVER-FOXCROFT – An open house for Mayo Regional Hospital’s newly renovated oncology services department will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 12.

The $52,000 project was funded entirely by donations, including a $25,000 grant from the J.M. Hopwood Charitable Trust and $12,500 each from the Plummer Memorial Foundation of Dexter and the Mayo Regional Hospital Auxiliary. Work began in fall 2006 and was completed over the past four months.

The oncology services department has provided medical care to cancer patients since 1978. Last year the department recorded 1,358 patient visits.

The department’s medical director, Dr. Lesley Fernow, is board-certified in internal medicine and palliative care.
