Northern Regional Bowling Championship

BANGOR – The Northern Regional Individual Bowling Championship was held Feb. 27 at the Family Fun Bowling Center. Seventy-six bowlers competed, 56 boys and 20 girls. The top five regional qualifiers competed in a step-ladder competition for the regional individual champion.

Girls Division:

. Ashley Zikorus defeated Sarah Gross 137 to 136.

. Rachel Millett defeated Ashley Zikorus 182 to 159.

. Jessica Archer defeated Rachel Millett 211 to 149.

. Jessica Archer defeated Julianna Moulton 212 to 163.

Jessica Archer is the North Region Individual Girl Champion.

Boys Division:

. Darrin Dionne defeated Matt Harzewski 193 to 121.

. Darrin Dionne defeated TJ York 205 to 193.

. Tyler Cotter defeated Darrin Dionne 226 to 204.

. Tyler Cotter defeated Greg Boucher 181 to 121.

Tyler Cotter is the North Region Individual Boy Champion.

Girls qualifying for the individual state championships are: Jessica Archer, Julianna Moulton, Rachel Millett, Ashley Zikorus, Sarah Gross, Crystal Stratton, Brandi-Jo DeWitt, Ahnna Bean, Vanessa Beaz, Brittany Garland, Debra Gray, Jessica Leonard, Laura Roy, Cassandra Casey, Lilly Stimpson, Amanda Labbe, Megan Herbert, Makayla Oglive, Ashley Groder, Brianna Jones and Hailey Breen.

Boys qualifying for the individual state championships are: Tyler Cotter, Greg Boucher, Darrin Dionne, TJ York, Matt Harzewski, Colby Wood, Logan Briggs, Skyler Veilleux, Alex Downing, David Tozier, Chris Everett, Sean Mower, Brandon Philbrook, Jake Knowles, Matt Dennis, JC White, Abe Beane, Josh Valley, Jayson Parent and Jacob Cross.

The bowlers in the Northern Conference come from Bangor, Brewer, Hampden, Hermon, home schools, Calvary Chapel Christian School, Bangor Christian Schools, Nokomis, Skowhegan, Madison and Carrabec high schools.

Little League signup dates

BREWER – Brewer Little League will hold signups for the coming season 6-8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, March 13-14; and Monday, March 20, at Brewer High School.

In existence for more than 50 years, BLL reflects the Community of Caring values adopted by the city of Brewer and its schools. The league’s purpose is to provide a positive environment where young people learn to play baseball.

Players who are age 10 before April 30, and 11- and 12-year-olds may try out for Little League. Nine-year-olds and players ages 10 to 12 who are not assigned to a Little League team will play in the Minor Leagues. Seven and 8-year-olds play in the Farm League. Tryout dates and times will be available at the signup events.
