Danny, 12, interested in athletics

Danny is a sweet, generous 12-year-old who enjoys sports and hanging out with friends.

Danny likes baseball, basketball, soccer, hockey and football. That certainly makes him a sports fan.

In school, Danny’s favorite class is gym. He also likes science and says if he could visit anywhere in the world, it would be back to the times of the dinosaurs.

Danny is also in the school chorus. He is mainstreamed in all of his classes, but he does receive some special education support throughout the day. He is a hard worker and is proud when he does well during the school day.

Danny enjoys spending time with adults, but he maintains positive peer relationships. When he is with his friends, they can be found playing sports, listening to music, watching movies and eating. Danny has a good sense of humor and he is quick to laugh at a good joke or someone acting silly.

The best family for Danny would be one that could provide a structured home with limits and consistency.

Danny does best when the adults around him are involved in his routine and help him remain appropriate with prompts and close supervision.

Danny says he would like siblings and pets in his family.

Danny is one of the 159 children in the care of the state Department of Health and Human Services who is seeking an adoptive family.

Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
