LITTLETON – A 22-year-old snowmobiler died Friday when his sled left a northern Maine trail and crashed into trees, the Maine Warden Service said.
Michael Libby of Lincolnville was leading two other snowmobilers when he hit a bump, which sent the sled off the trail and into trees along Interstate Trail 83, said Warden Service spokesman Mark Latti. The accident happened near a bridge over Big Brook.
Libby was wearing a helmet when his snowmobile crashed. Latti says speed appears to have been a factor in the accident.
