ORLANDO, Fla. – Junior catcher Andrew Wood singled twice, drove in two runs and stole two bases Monday to help lead Saint Joseph’s College of Standish to a 9-4 victory over Curry College of Milton, Mass. in the first game en route to a doubleheader sweep.
The Monks also took the second game 7-5.
In the first game, senior Chris Doughty singled twice to knock in a run for the Monks.
In the second game, with the game tied at 3-3, senior Mark Clapp hit a pinch-hit, two-run single to give the Monks the lead. Wade Oliver doubled while Dustin Spiller and Keil Martin each had two singles.
Mount Aloysius 12, Husson 4
At Odessa, Fla., Durell Hutzell-Ellis and Fred Zigler scattered 11 hits and allowed only two earned runs as Mount Aloysius (Pa.) beat Husson College of Bangor.
Hutzell-Ellis allowed 10 hits and four runs, two earned, over seven innings to pick up the win. He struck out four and walked four.
Zigler gave up just one hit in two scoreless innings.
Chuck Farris and Jayson Gilliam had three hits and two RBIs each for the winners. Matt Hershey had two hits and an RBI and Joshua McGinnis had a double and two RBIs.
Nick Arthers had three hits, including a double, and drove in a run for Husson and Brian McGinley had three singles. Dennis Graham and George Keefe had two hits and an RBI apiece. Graham had a double.

Saint Joseph’s College drops two
At Cape Coral, Fla., Jenna Patnode tripled and singled and scored three runs to lift Keene State College of New Hampshire over Saint Joseph’s College of Standish 11-2 in Monday’s second game. Ohio Wesleyan University defeated the Monks in an earlier game 5-4.
In the first game, Miranda Simmons had two singles and two RBIs for Ohio Wesleyan.
Jillian Kimball doubled and singled for Saint Joseph’s and Aly Ludwig added two singles and a run scored.
In the second game, Kari Gardner tripled and drove in two runs for Keene State.
Gabrielle Burrola doubled and singled with an RBI for the Monks.
