NEQUEN, Argentina – Adam Craig of Corinth and Bend, Ore., earned a fourth-place finish at the Pan American Continental Mountain Biking Championships held in this city on the Argentina-Chile border.

The 25-year-old Craig, who finished 17th in the 2006 International Cycling Union elite men’s cross country standings, finished second among U.S. riders in the opening event of the 2007 season.

Canadians Geoff Kabush and Seamus McGrath finished 1-2 on the rooty 6-kilometer course, followed by Americans Todd Wells, Craig and Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski.

Craig earned his finish despite dropping his chain during a gear change early in the race, a mishap that cost him a minute while he made repairs to his bike.
