DEER ISLE – Investigators are searching for the culprit who broke into The Galley market on Route 15 sometime during the night Sunday and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.

The burglar took some cash bags that had been secured inside the building, according to Lt. Patrick Kane of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department. Because the investigation is still active, Kane said he would not discuss the amount of money taken or how the suspect entered the market, which is located across the road from the Deer Isle-Stonington High School.

The investigation is still in its early stages, but Kane has developed some information that points to a suspect.
