SANFORD – A man who escaped from a Kansas prison in July 2005 has been arrested in Maine.

Anthony Montana was a minimum-security inmate at the Norton Correctional Facility in Stockton, Kan., when he escaped. He was arrested Saturday, March 10 in Sanford after a traffic stop.

Montana is being held in the York County Jail in Maine awaiting trial on several forgery charges. After that, authorities will begin procedures to extradite Montana to Kansas, where he will face charges in Rooks County for aggravated escape.

Montana was convicted in Kansas on three counts of unlawful acts and sales related to securities. He was sentenced to 44 months in prison in February 2004.
