ORRINGTON – Feb. 8 was a banner night for the middle school boys and girls basketball teams from Calvary Chapel Christian School. Both teams won the B-Bracket playoffs of the Maine Mid-Coast Basketball League.

For the girls, Meagan Warman led all scorers with 13 points and Emily Mills contributed 10 in the 32-15 victory over the Indian Island Warriors. Cassie Harvey chipped in six, Jazzy Despres two, and Hannah Lugdon added one.

For the Warriors, Danielle Altvater scored 10 and Tori Hildreth scored 5.

The second game of the evening featured the Airline Jets and the Sabers from Calvary.

Thomas Deckersil had a monster game, scoring 27 of the Jets’ 47 points, but it was not enough to overcome the Sabers, who were led by Clay Lawrence and Stephen Berenyi each scoring 14 points, and Matt Goodness with 13. Colby Downes, Tyler Lacadie and Zach Martin added four apiece for the Sabers, and Alex Doten rounded off the scoring with two to help the Sabers go on to a 55-47 victory.

For the Jets, who played the entire game with only five boys, David Jones scored 11, Brian Jones seven, and Andrew Jones two.
