A break-in at a Parkman store and reports that eight vehicles were rifled through in the past few days have kept the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department busy.
Burglars made off with beer and cigarettes during a break-in Monday night at KC’s Store on Route 150 in Parkman.
About 30 packages of cigarettes, cigarette lighters, rolling papers and beer were reported missing when the owners opened the store Tuesday morning, according to Lt. Robert Young of the Sheriff’s Department. He estimated the value of the items at $200.
Young said entry was gained through a back door to the building.
In addition, police believe the same people who have been stealing loose change and untraceable items from mostly unlocked vehicles is back working the Guilford-Sangerville area.
Windows were broken out in four locked vehicles to get pocketbooks that had been left behind by the owners, he said. The owners of the unlocked vehicles reported money was taken.
Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious between Monday night and Tuesday morning at KC’s Store or who may have seen people walking the streets Sunday and Monday nights in Guilford and Sangerville are urged to contact the Sheriff’s Department at 564-3304.
