BANGOR – Delivery of three huge Komatsu mining and crushing machines from their vendor in Bangor to a Lane Construction quarry in Hermon is expected to cause brief traffic delays today.
The move is set to take place between noon and 1 p.m., weather permitting, and is expected to take about 15 minutes, said Glenn Mace of R.C. Hazelton Co. Inc.’s branch at 142 Target Industrial Circle.
Their route will begin on Hammond Street, go through the intersection with Interstate 395 and onto Odlin Road.
The equipment, which arrived in pieces and was assembled in Bangor, will travel in a convoy, complete with a police escort, Mace said.
He said the three machines will be driven from Bangor to Hermon. Though the equipment can achieve speeds of up to 43 mph, the trip Friday will be much more leisurely for safety reasons.
Lane will use the new machines, which cost nearly $1 million combined, to process stone at the quarry on Odlin Road in Hermon, across from Speedway 95, Mace said.
The new machines will replace Lane’s 30-year-old equipment.
