AUGUSTA – The Senate on Thursday unanimously confirmed a Bangor judge as a member of the state’s highest court.

The action came one day after the Legislature’s Judiciary Committee unanimously recommended that Superior Court Justice Andrew M. Mead be confirmed to a seat on the seven-member Supreme Judicial Court.

Mead, 55, is expected to begin his new job on April 2.

Mead has said that he and his wife, Kelly, a kindergarten teacher in Bangor, will continue to live in Bangor, where the couple has lived since the 1970s. The supreme court is based in Portland.
