AUGUSTA – Gov. John Baldacci ordered the U.S. and Maine flags to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset today in honor of Barbara Guild McKernan, a Bangor-area civic leader and mother of former Gov. John McKernan.

She died Wednesday at the age of 86.

A funeral is planned for 1 p.m. today at All Souls Congregational Church in Bangor.
