Let the wealthy pay

While I don’t agree with the Iraq War, I realize a pullout could have disastrous consequences. However, I am more outraged that the president keeps asking for more and more and more of our taxpayer dollars to fund his mistake.

I feel it’s time to ask for sacrifice, not from the regular folks trying to survive here in Maine and the rest of the U.S.A., but from the wealthy who have benefited from the generous tax breaks given a few years ago. I don’t have a multi-million dollar property on Walker’s Point. I don’t even have health insurance. I am just a small-business owner trying to get by and I resent the billions being thrown away in Iraq, not to mention the sacrifice of our soldiers and their families.

I propose that all war funding increases be tied to a repeal of tax breaks for large corporations and the wealthy. This would be a small step to adjust the imbalance between the rich and poor in the U.S.A.
