The smell of marijuana wafting through the air at a Brewer motel led police to a room occupied by Craig Howe, 30, whose last known address was the University of Maine, and Allura Martin, 25, of Ellsworth.

Howe was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to pay fines and was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a Schedule Z drug.

He was taken to Penobscot County Jail and is to appear in 3rd District Court on April 26.

Martin, who is on probation, was summoned for possession of a Schedule Z drug, in this case, prescription-strength ibuprofen

A Corinth motorist who was stopped in Milo Sunday because of his erratic driving allegedly confessed to police that he had marijuana and a pot pipe in his vehicle and that he had furnished alcohol to his younger passengers.

Jason Jones, 21, was charged with furnishing alcohol to minors, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a usable amount of marijuana, according to Milo Police Chief Michael Poulin. Jones is expected to make his initial court appearance on May 7 in 13th District Court in Dover-Foxcroft.

Poulin said Milo reserve Officer David Henderson stopped Jones’ car at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday on Elm Street after witnessing his erratic operation. Jones produced all but his registration, he said. When Henderson asked Jones’ permission to search his vehicle, Jones allegedly told Henderson about his goods and that he had furnished liquor to his 18-year-old passenger and two younger passengers, Poulin said.

A Milo woman was charged with two counts of assault Sunday after she allegedly slapped her husband and bit the finger of a woman who came to his aid at their Railroad Avenue home in Derby.

Jessica Badger, 22, added to the assault charges after being led from the home by Milo reserve Officer Joe Hallett. When Hallett placed Badger in his cruiser, she allegedly kicked out a window and bent the window frame, Milo Police Chief Michael Poulin said. For that incident, she was charged with criminal mischief.
