NEWPORT – Less than an hour after Newport police Officer David Wintle summoned a driver for operating after suspension Sunday, he stopped the man for driving again.
The second time, Wintle arrested David Sesona Jr., 20, of Newport.
Police Chief Leonard Macdaid said Monday that “he just doesn’t want to learn,” and added that another Newport officer, Jeremy Flynn, had charged Sesona two weeks ago with the same offense.
Wintle said he stopped Sesona the first time about 5 p.m. on Ridge Road. Sesona’s license had been suspended for failing to pay outstanding fines. Sesona was given a summons.
About 6 p.m., however, Wintle spotted Sesona driving again, this time on Route 100.
“He told me that he needed to get back home and his friend wouldn’t give him a ride,” Wintle said.
