Hot Shot State Contest
OLD TOWN – The Maine Recreation and Park Association and Hancock Lumber company announced the state Hot Shot Contest winners.
Forty-one athletes from across the state competed on March 3 at Old Town High School. Four age groups were in the competition, which consisted of a skills contest of five hot spots marked on the floor.
Participants had one minute to attempt as many shots as possible from those spots. Each spot was worth a different point value according to its location in the floor. After three one-minute rounds, a winner was determined.
Winners in the 9- to 10-year-old category were:
. Derek Hammond of Windham, boys, first place with 127 points.
. Matt Hartl of Scarborough, second place with 110 points.
. Carmen Bragg of Washburn, girls, first place with 135 points.
. Kathleen Bodmer of Topsham, second place with 85 points.
Winners in the 11- to 12-year-old category were:
. Robert Rockwell of Houlton, boys, first place with 128 points.
. Lamont Flanders III of Athens, second place with 102 points.
. Parise Rossignol of Van Buren, girls, first place with 104 points.
. Amanda Hotham of Fort Fairfield, second place with 92 points, and Dakota Foster or Brunswick, also with 92 points.
Winners in the 13- to 15-year-old category were:
. Peter Gwilym of Freeport, boys, first place with 116 points.
. Cole Richards of Presque Isle, second place with 109 points.
. Jade Keezer of Veazie, girls, first place with 92 points.
. Rebecca Campbell of Washburn, second place with 90 points.
Winners in the 16- to 18-year-old category were:
. Eric Fernald of Bangor, boys, first place with 120 points.
. Doug Sharpe of Fort Fairfield, second place with 116 points.
