Recalls

The following recalls have been announced:

. About 100,000 SlingRider infant carriers, manufactured by Infantino LLC, because the sliding plastic piece attached to the strap can break, causing a baby to fall out of the carrier. The company has received four reports of cases in which infants went to the emergency room after a fall; in one, a child had a fractured skull. The company has received 10 reports of broken sliders, including eight where the baby fell out of the carrier.

The black or khaki slings feature a fabric carrier attached to a strap with a plastic slider. SlingRiders with the following item numbers are included in the recall: 141-210, 151-210, 151-528 and 151-534. These numbers are printed on a label inside the sling. Slings with labels that say, “Made in Thailand” or “New 2007 Design” are not included in the recall.

The slings were sold in catalogs, online and at Target, Babies R Us, BJ’s Wholesale Club and other stores between last 2006 and February. To receive a free replacement item, call (888) 808-3111. For more information, visit http://service.infantino.com or http://www.cpsc.gov

. About 32,000 Digital Security Controls FSA and FSB series smoke detectors, distributed by Digital Security Controls, because they could fail to detect smoke. The recall includes FSA and FSB series photoelectric detectors, which are wired directly into a building and do not use batteries. They were sold by commercial and residential installers around the country between last October and December.

Call the smoke detector’s installer for a free inspection and, if necessary, free replacement detector and installation. Only professionals should install these detectors. For more information on receiving a replacement detector, call (877) 666-1250. For more information about the recall, visit http://www.dsc.com of http://www.cpsc.gov

. About 26,794 Harry London chocolate fudge and peanut butter egg candies, manufactured by Harry London Candies Inc., because they are not labeled to indicate they contain egg product. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs or egg whites could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume these candies. No reports of injury have been received.

The candies are packaged in 8-ounce and 3.5-ounce packages and have bar code 2179501083, 2179501084, 2179501085 or 2179501086 printed on them.

Distributors, wholesalers and fundraisers nationwide sold the candies. For more information, call the company at (800) 321-0444 or visit http://www.fda.gov.

. Honda Motor Corp. said Monday that it was recalling about 165,000 vehicles from the 2005-06 model years in the United States to deal with potential engine problems.

Honda said the recall affected 2005 models of the Acura RL, TL and TSX sedans, 2005 Honda Accord coupes, sedans and hybrids, 2005 Odyssey minivans and 2006 Ridgeline trucks.

The move is part of a global recall because of similar problems, said Honda spokesman Chris Martin.

Martin said the automaker discovered that sealer material leaked onto a coil wire inside the fuel pump relay on some of the vehicles. The wire can become brittle and snap, causing the engine to stall or fail to start.

Honda has received “multiple complaints” of vehicles stalling or failing to start, Martin said. There have been no injuries or crashes linked to the defect.

Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pump relay free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in early April.

Owners can contact Honda at (800) 999-1009.

. DBC Foods Inc. is recalling potato salad sold both prepackaged and at deli counters, because it could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria is a microorganism that can cause serious or fatal infections in children, the elderly or those with weakened immune systems. It can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. Healthy adults can experience symptoms including fevers, severe headaches, nausea and diarrhea.

The prepackaged potato salad was sold in 1-pound containers under the labels Midwest Pride, Coborn’s and Cash Wise. The containers have lot number 7057018A. The Midwest Pride salad has an expiration date of April 2. The Coborn’s and Cash Wise salads have expiration dates of March 9. The salad packages were sold in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Michigan.

The potato salad sold at deli counters, packed to order, was available in 89 stores in the above states, plus Nebraska, between Feb. 27 and March 16.

For a full refund, return the salad to the place of purchase. For more information, call (320) 203-6352.
