CASTINE – The University of Maine at Presque Isle erupted for four runs in the top of the seventh inning en route to a 7-4 victory over Maine Maritime Academy in the first game of a softball doubleheader Wednesday.

The Owls also won the second game 11-6.

In the first game, Erica Davis had three hits and scored three runs for the Owls.

Kristen Gaylord led the Mariners with three hits and a run scored.

In the second game, Davis homered twice and knocked in four runs to lead the 2-0 Owls.

Megan McKay and Maegan Cloutier both had three hits for 0-2 Maine Maritime.
