Hope teen arrested in Orono after crashing car

ORONO – When police arrived at 90 Park St. where a drunken man had been reported trying to enter a home, all they saw was a black Saab that had crashed into the curb, its air bags deployed.

“The vehicle was still running [and] the air bags had deployed but there was nobody around it,” Orono police Officer Seth Burnes said Thursday.

The incident occurred about 12:45 a.m. Thursday, and two officers spoke with the man who had called dispatch, saying an intoxicated man was on his property.

“He reported that a male subject had come to him and said he needed help and the police were after him,” Burnes said.

Police eventually found the drunken man attempting to enter the Park Street home through a back door.

The man initially gave police a false identity and swore at officers.

After police determined that the man was Jason Josselyn, 19, of Hope, he denied knowing anything about the crashed car even though it was registered in his name.

The man was uncooperative with police, and although they weren’t able to get him to perform a breathalyzer test more than once, his blood alcohol level on the first try was 0.21, more than twice the legal limit.

Josselyn was out on bail, and police arrested him for violation of condition of release and also charged him with illegal possession of liquor by a minor.

He is scheduled to appear May 17 at 3rd District Court in Bangor.
