The U.S. Postal Service announced its new series of stamps Thursday, which will coincide with the new rates taking effect May 14, including a 2-cent rise in first-class mail to 41 cents. Among the new stamps is a Margaret Chase Smith stamp for 58 cents, which will be on sale June 13 to commemorate the first woman to serve in both houses of Congress. Another stamp features Harriet Beecher Stowe, which will sell for 75 cents and honors the author of “Uncle Tom’s Cabin,” one of the most influential novels in American history. These stamps are the latest in the Distinguished Americans stamp series. Other new stamps will include blooming flowers, Air Force One, wildlife and landscapes.
