Glenburn man charged in contact with juvenile

A 19-year-old Glenburn man was caught early Saturday morning with a juvenile female from Brewer who has a protection order against him.

Jordan Theriault, who is out on bail and has protection orders barring him from contact with three people, including the female passenger, was driving a gray Subaru in Bangor without a working license plate light. Officer Steve Pelletier stopped Theriault at 1:17 a.m. and smelled alcohol on his breath.

The female passenger gave another name when asked, but police quickly determined she was one of the people Theriault was not to be in contact with.

Theriault was charged with violating conditions of release, violating a protection order and for operating under the influence. He was transported to Penobscot County Jail where he remained on Sunday.

His initial appearance in 3rd District Court date is scheduled for today.

The female was picked up at the police station by her mother.

A fire reported at 1:37 a.m. Sunday in the middle of the intersection of Elm and Somerset streets turned out to be a Molotov cocktail. By the time Bangor officers arrived, the flammable material in the broken bottle was burned out, and no suspects were seen in the area.

Shirts, candles, scarves, a necklace, Crocks, anti-wrinkle cream, lip balm and nail stickers were among the items a Bangor woman was caught stealing from Marden’s Discount Store in Brewer around 4 p.m. Sunday.

Barbara Hunter, 51, of Bangor was getting into her car in the Marden’s parking lot at 564 Wilson St. when Brewer police Cpl. Levi Sewall and Sgt. Rich Smith arrived. Police confronted her, telling her she had been observed concealing the items in her jacket and purse. She started to turn over some items.

“It was like one of those magic tricks: The items just kept coming out,” Sewall said Sunday.

The grand total of the concealed merchandise was $239.82, he said.

Hunter was taken to Penobscot County Jail where she was charged with theft and violation of conditions of release. She remains there until her arraignment today.
