Brewer drug bust nets three arrests

Police raided two guest rooms Saturday night in a motel on Wilson Street in Brewer, resulting in three arrests for alleged felony drug possession and drug trafficking.

Brewer police officers had heard reports that people staying at the New Stable Inn were dealing in drugs. They procured a search warrant for two rooms. Because reports indicated that a weapon was in one of the rooms, the Bangor Special Response Team, led by Officer Amy Nickerson, was called to assist.

Police entered the motel rooms just after 9 p.m. Saturday. They reported finding a 9 mm handgun, psychedelic mushrooms packaged for resale, cocaine, morphine and about 500 milligrams of OxyContin. Weights on the other drugs had not been determined as of Monday, said Sgt. Jay Munson of the Brewer Police Department.

“It’s still under investigation, but we did arrest three people,” he said. “They are known associates of each other.”

Alan Scholefield, 33, who is staying in the area but who is originally from Massachusetts; Chad Gordon, 26, of Brewer; and Ashley Cyr, 23, of Dexter were arrested and charged with felony drug possession.

Scholefield, who has warrants for his arrest in Piscataquis County and Massachusetts, also was charged with aggravated trafficking of drugs. Cyr was given an additional charge for allegedly falsifying physical evidence.

All three were transported to Penobscot County Jail and had their initial appearance in 3rd District Court in Bangor on Monday. All three are scheduled to return to court on May 17.

Guns were taken from a seasonal home on Bangor Road in Dover-Foxcroft during a break-in that remained under investigation Monday.

Dover-Foxcroft police Sgt. David Wilson said two .22-caliber rifles and a BB gun were reported missing from the home by the owners on Saturday.
