Easter from the East

There may not be an Easter bunny in the traditional Chinese calendar, but Oriental Jade has bucked tradition for its Easter buffet. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Oriental Jade, located on Bangor Mall Boulevard, will serve a holiday buffet including American and Chinese favorites. And be sure to bring your camera – the Easter bunny will be on hand for photos. The buffet costs $11.99 for adults, and the children’s buffet starts at $3.99 (price is determined by the child’s height). For information or to reserve a seat, call 947-6969.

Let them read cake

Are you a cook who loves to read? A reader who loves to cook? Then cook up a delicious plot for the annual Books2Eat celebration at Eastern Maine Community College. Professional chefs, amateur cooks and students young and old are invited to submit edible books – this year’s contest features a special Stephen King category – in exchange for free admission. Don’t feel like cooking? Admission costs $10 for adults and $5 for students, which includes high tea, a live food demonstration and the chance to vote for a favorite edible book. The event takes place from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 11 in EMCC’s Rangeley Hall. For information or an entry form, call Karen Reilly at 974-4606.
