Edward Little of Auburn standout Troy Barnies has been named the 2006-07 Gatorade Maine Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

Barnies, who last month was named Maine’s 2007 Mr. Basketball, averaged 22.8 points, 12.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per games in leading the Eddies to an undefeated regular season and the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A championship.

Barnies has maintained a B-plus average in the classroom, and volunteers as a mentor for troubled youths in his community. He also is a leader of his school’s “Kick-Off” program, through which seniors offer guidance to incoming freshmen.

Barnies will attend the University of Maine on a basketball scholarship.
