The Alzheimer’s Association of Maine has named Amy Cotton of Hampden to the organization’s 14-member governing board. Cotton is the director of operations and a nurse practitioner at Rosscare’s Center for Healthy Aging in Bangor, an affiliate of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems.

She is an adjunct professor at Husson College and a fellow of the National Gerontological Nursing Association. Cotton serves on a number of area coalitions and boards of organizations dedicated to serving the needs of Maine’s older citizens.

The nonprofit Alzheimer’s Association is a donor-supported organization supporting research into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure of Alzheimer’s disease.

It also offers support and consultation to families and professionals caring for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
