AUGUSTA – Crews will close a southbound lane of Interstate 95 in the Augusta area beginning today to repair damage from a March crash, the state Department of Transportation said.

The repairs that were made immediately after the crash near Exit 122 at the Old Belgrade Road overpass were meant to be temporary, according to Mike Eldridge, bridge manager of DOT’s Region 2 office.

Repairs will include strengthening concrete work and replacing bridge railings.

The work is expected to take up to a week to finish, Eldridge said.
