4th Tools ‘N Trades coming to NMCC

PRESQUE ISLE – The fourth annual Tools ‘N Trades conference will be held Wednesday, April 25, at Northern Maine Community College. The conference is designed to encourage girls to consider careers in fields traditionally dominated by men.

Session topics will range from carpentry and metal fabrication to firefighting and bridge building. A luncheon and fashion show featuring women employed in nontraditional fields will be held. The day will end with a panel discussion featuring several women working in trade and technical fields.

The conference is a free, one-day event for girls in Aroostook County in grades eight through 12.

Louisiana Pacific and the Maine Department of Transportation are funding the activity. Prizes are donated by local contractors, educational institutions and other organizations.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m. in the Edmunds Conference Center.
