BIDDEFORD – The University of New England’s Nor’Easters used a one-hitter from Sarah Hamel and a sixth-inning rally to sweep a doubleheader from Curry College, 6-0 and 7-5 in college softball action Tuesday.
In the first game, Lisa Baillargeon hit an RBI double, RBI single and two-run homer and Hamel walked one and struck out eight in her complete game shutout.
In the second game, Chelsea Cummings’ RBI double and Katie Morin’s run-scoring sparked a four-run sixth inning as UNE erased a 5-3 deficit.
Kelly Bedard singled twice to drive in a pair of runs for the Nor’Easters.
Jessica Riddle hit a solo homer for Curry.

USM sweeps St. Joseph’s
At Gorham, Kristina Grondin led the University of Southern Maine with three hits and four RBIs, including a two-run home run, as it defeated Saint Joseph’s College 13-0 in the second game of a doubleheader on Tuesday.
The Huskies won the first game 8-0.
In the first game, Grondin earned the shutout, allowing three hits and striking out seven.
Magan Blais belted a three-run home run for Southern Maine while Meghan Ford doubled and singled.
In the second game, Sarah Coonradt earned her first collegiate win, firing a one-hitter for the Huskies.
Anita Dixon collected three hits for Southern Maine while Katie Martell added two hits and a pair of RBIs.

At Portland, Tyler Mayberry scored a single-game record nine points as the University of Southern Maine defeated Maine Maritime Academy.
Mayberry scored five goals and grabbed four assists for his nine points. Danny Jackson had five goals while Zach Fermanis added two for the Huskies. Lee Gauthier chipped in with a goal and three assists.
Nate Bolduc and Garrett Lake each scored a pair of goals for Maine Maritime.
