Ashley Hilton of Skowhegan and the University of New Haven has been named a fourth-team basketball All-American by Women’s Division II Bulletin.
Hilton, a 6-foot senior forward, earlier was named East Coast Conference Player of the Year after averaging a team-high 18.6 points and 7.5 rebounds to lead the Chargers to a 25-6 record and the conference title. She had the third-best single-season scoring total in school history with 576 points.
She also was chosen an honorable mention NCAA Division II Kodak/WBCA All-American after leading New Haven to a berth in the NCAA Tournament, where the Chargers lost to eventual national champion Southern Connecticut in the first round.
The former Skowhegan Area High School standout finished her career at New Haven with more than 1,600 career points and 800 rebounds.

Four enter Thomas hall
Former Mt. Blue of Farmington basketball standout Mike Adams of Lewiston was one of four people recently inducted into the Thomas College Hall of Fame.
Adams, John Hapworth of Winslow, Christopher Holmes of Granby, Conn., and former men’s soccer coach Jim Evans of Simsbury, Conn., are the newest member of the Waterville college’s hall of fame, which was created in 1994 and now numbers 33 inductees.
Adams, a former Mr. Basketball during his playing days at Mt. Blue, was a two-year captain of the Thomas men’s basketball team who finished his career as the sixth-leading scorer in school history with 1,521 points. He was named to the All-Western Maine Athletic Conference team in 1992 and 1993, and was an All-Maine Athletic Conference choice in 1994. Adams, now the head basketball coach at Edward Little High School in Auburn, also is the third-leading rebounder in Thomas history.
Hapworth led Thomas to its only conference championship in men’s basketball in 1969, his senior season. He was named to the All-Northeast College Conference team in 1967, 1968 and 1969, and finished his career with 1,179 points.
Holmes was a goalie on the men’s soccer team from 1974 to 1977. He recorded 614 career saves, averaging more than 14 saves per game. Holmes was a two-year captain who earned all-conference honors as a junior and a senior and was an All-NAIA District 5 choice in 1977.
Evans coached the Thomas men’s soccer team from 1986 to 1993, guiding the Terriers to a 68-51-7 record along with three Western Maine Athletic Conference titles and the NAIA regional championship in 1988. Named WMAC coach of the year in 1988, Evans coached NAIA All-Americans at Thomas.
MDI’s Jia earns tennis wins
Eliot Jia of Mount Desert helped the Middlebury College men’s tennis team opened its spring season with a pair of indoor wins on campus against Connecticut College and Brandeis.
Jia earned a singles victory in the 9-0 win over Connecticut College, while he was victorious in doubles play with Andrew Lee of Eden Prairie, Minn., in the Panthers’ 9-0 victory over Brandeis.
Jean signs with Pirates
Senior goaltender Ray Jean of Gardiner, who concluded his collegiate hockey career at Bentley University in Waltham, Mass., signed a contract on Tuesday with the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.
In two seasons at Bentley, Jean set school records for career save percentage (.900) and goals against average (3.38). He played in 54 career games with the Falcons, and also set a single-season save percentage average of .916 during his junior season.
Serdjenian takes full-time reins
Mark Serdjenian, who has coached the Colby of Waterville men’s soccer team for the past 31 years, will move to that position on a full-time basis beginning this fall.
Serdjenian has been the men’s soccer coach on a part-time basis while working in Colby’s Dean of Students office as associate dean of students for academics and director of advising.
Serdjenian’s other duties in the Colby athletics department will be as a second assistant coach for the men’s lacrosse team and an academic liaison for Colby student-athletes.
A 1973 Colby graduate who played goalkeeper during his playing days with the Mules, Serdjenian has a 221-178-37 coaching record, including a 6-5-3 record last season.
Bowdoin to host lacrosse fete
The Bowdoin College Athletic Department, in conjunction with the office of alumni relations, will host a “Celebration of 50 Years of Men’s Lacrosse at Bowdoin” April 27-28.
Reunion events will surround the team’s last regular-season home game against Williams at noon, and will include an alumni game, reception and dinner.
