NEWPORT – Donald Reynolds, 47, a history teacher at Nokomis Regional High School for 20 years, was arrested last week by the Maine State Police and charged with burglarizing his ex-wife’s Newport apartment.

Reynolds was taken to Penobscot County Jail on April 4 and released on bail, according to Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

The teacher subsequently was placed on administrative leave by SAD 48 Superintendent William Braun. Braun said Reynolds would remain an employee of the district unless he is convicted of a crime.

Penobscot District Attorney Christopher Almy said Thursday that his office does not have the case yet but expects to file charges next week.
