Thrill-seeking paddlers will get to enjoy a full weekend of fun today and Sunday with four races on tap.

This morning paddlers will head to Souadabscook Stream in Hampden, where sprint races will be staged beginning at 9 a.m. and the downriver race to start at noon.

Registration will be held at the Grange Hall on Emerson Mill Road beginning at 7:30 a.m.

On Sunday, the scene shifts to Marsh Stream in Winterport, with sprint races also beginning at 9 a.m. and a downriver race scheduled for noon.

Registration for the Marsh Stream events will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Riverside Riders Snowmobile Club on Pine View Drive in Winterport.

Both races include Class I, II and III whitewater and whitewater experience is recommended.

Entrance fees for both days: $20 for the first race of the day and $6 per person for each additional race. All profits will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Pushaw turkey shoot planned

The Pushaw Lake ATV Snowmobile Club will hold a turkey shoot on April 29 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

There are three classes of competition: 12 gauge, 20 gauge, and .410. The shooters who put the most pellets in a paper target will win a frozen turkey.

Shooters should bring their own guns; shotgun shells will be provided.

The cost is $1 per shot.

Unity conference scheduled

Unity College will host its first Sportsmen’s Conference and Wild Game Dinner at the Unity Centre for the Performing Arts on April 19.

The event will run from 4-10 p.m.

The dinner will run from 5-7 p.m., featuring both traditional and exotic game meats including beaver, bear, moose, deer, and others.

An art show will feature eight award-winning Maine artists, including painters, carvers, and taxidermists.
