BRISTOL, R.I. – Kristina Grondin hit a double and two singles to knock in two runs and lead the University of Southern Maine to a 9-7 college softball victory over Roger Williams in the first game of a doubleheader Friday.
The Hawks came back to take the second game 13-2.
In the first game, Grondin pitched seven innings to earn the complete-game win for the Huskies. Christen Lachappelle and Anita Dixon each doubled and singled for Southern Maine of Gorham.
Jacquie Cammarata singled three times for Roger Williams.
In the second game, Callie Nealon hit an RBI double for the Hawks.
Dixon tripled to knock in a run for Southern Maine.

At Medford, Mass., Lauren Gelmetti struck out eight to earn the shutout as Tufts University defeated Bowdoin College of Brunswick.
Jenna Robey hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning for the 14-9 Jumbos.
Clare Ronan singled twice for the 14-7 Polar Bears.

At Medford, Mass., Corey Pontes hit an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning to spark Tufts University past Bowdoin College of Brunswick.
Chris McCann drove in a run on a sacrifice fly for the Polar Bears and Joe Koperniak on an RBI single. Joe Berte hit a pair of singles.
