CALAIS – The rock group B-Techs will play multiple benefit concerts over the next two weeks to help raise money for a start-up football program and for a firefighter battling leukemia.
The group, along with Pratt Chevrolet on River Road and SRS Entertainment, will hold a concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at Calais High School. The proceeds will benefit the Calais and Woodland high schools’ Silverados football team. Tickets for that concert are on sale at Pratt Chevrolet, Paradis Shop ‘n Save on South Street, and the two high schools.
The musical group also plans to hold a benefit concert to help local firefighter Billy Townsend, who recently was diagnosed with leukemia and is undergoing treatment. Money raised will help offset mounting medical expenses. The dinner and benefit concert will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday April 28, at the Calais Motor Inn.
“This is a tremendous group of guys that want to help the people that have supported them,” Tim Lawless, the band’s promoter, said Monday. “They feel they need to give back and doing that by doing what they love to do, while having fun.”
