Mackey, Henry power Huskies past Monks

STANDISH – Josh Mackey and Collin Henry each had two hits and drove in the run as the University of Southern Maine of Gorham edged Saint Joseph’s College 8-7 in a college baseball game Thursday.

Mark Schmidt drove in a pair of runs with a single while Ryan Bourque, Josh Stowell and Andrew Stacy each added a hit and an RBI for the Huskies.

Wade Oliver and Dustin Spiller each had two hits for the Monks while Luke Enman added a hit with two RBIs.

UMF sweeps Maine Maritime

At Castine, Sarah DeFillip, Megan McCrum and Megan Goodrow each had three hits to lead the University of Maine-Farmington to a 15-4 win over Maine Maritime Academy in the second game of a doubleheader.

The Beavers defeated MMA in the first game 4-2.

In the first game, DeFillip earned the win for UMF, allowing two runs on eight hits while Kelly McDonough had a pair of hits.

Maegan Cloutier went 2-for-2 with a home run for Maine Maritime.

In the second game, the Beavers collected 17 hits while holding MMA to two.

Hannah Seamans led the Mariners with a hit and an RBI.

Colby 5, Bates 1

At Waterville, Alyssa Crowell pitched six innings allowing only one run on two hits with no walks as Colby College defeated Bates College.

Carlie Minichino and Tory Starr each had a pair of hits and a run scored for Colby. Christine Gillespie and Sarah Whitfield each added an RBI single for the Mules.

Katie Franklin hit a solo home run and two singles for Bates of Lewiston.

USM, Bowdoin split

At Gorham, Evon Hudspeth had two doubles and a single to drive in a pair of RBIs as the University of Southern Maine defeated Bowdoin of Brunswick 10-2 in the second game of a doubleheader.

Bowdoin won the first game 5-4.

In the first game, Alison Coleman hit a three-run home run in the first inning for Bowdoin. Clare Ronan added a pair of hits and an RBI for the Polar Bears.

Christen Lachapelle had three hits for USM while Kristina Grondin added two hits and two RBIs.

In the second game, Megan Stanley drove in three runs for the Huskies while Anita Dixon and Megan Blais each added a pair of hits.
