BREWER – A 7-year-old boy was hospitalized on Friday after a neighbor accidentally backed over him with his SUV, police said.

The boy was playing near the driveway of Kenneth Reynolds, 36, in the Day Road Trailer Park around 11 a.m. Friday when the man backed out of his driveway and the rear tires of his SUV rolled over the midsection of the youngster, police said.

The Brewer Fire Department took the boy to Eastern Maine Medical Center, but his condition was unknown to police, said Cpl. Levi Sewall of the Brewer Police Department.

Officers reported the boy was later flown by LifeFlight to a Boston hospital.

Reynolds was summoned at the scene for operation after suspension and failure to present evidence of insurance, Sewall said.

Whether Reynolds could face additional charges for the incident is unknown, Sewall said.
